“Improve for Character Actors” Master Class at Second City Toronto—a not to be missed experience—on Friday, March 5, 2010, 2pm – 5pm World of Comedy Film Festival is proud to present a Master Class with Veteran Film and TV actor Paul Dooley “Improv for Character Actors.” One of the founding members of Chicago’s Second City, Paul Dooley’s “Improv for Character Actors” is a ‘don’t miss’ experience. The Master Class includes an introduction, 1-1/2 hour Improv Workshop followed by a Q&A. Participants are required to have previous training/experience in improvisation and acting at this workshop designed for a more intermediate level. Improv is Paul’s passion: “I love the freedom of it. I can be doing a Shakespeare parody one minute and playing a five year old kid the next. Paul Dooley – Bio Paul Dooley has made his place in Hollywood portraying fathers in some of our best loved films. His remarkable work includes the coming-of-age classic Breaking Away, the iconic 80s teen classic, Sixteen Candles from the late director John Hughes, and the campy John Waters’ phenomenon, Hairspray. Julia Roberts, Helen Hunt, Toni Colette and Mia Farrow, some of Hollywood’s finest actresses, have had the privilege of playing Dooley’s daughter. Dooley has received two Emmy nominations for his work as the out-of-the-closet father on HBO’s Dream On and a memorable feisty judge on The Practice. In addition, he has portrayed guest starring and recurring roles on many television series, including ER, Grace Under Fire, Grey’s Anatomy, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and My So-Called Life. Dooley’s film work also includes Insomnia witih Al Pacino and Waiting for Guffman and A Mighty Wind, both with Christopher Guest. On Broadway, Paul performed in The Threepenny Opera with Charlotte Rae and Beatrice Arthur (Maude, Golden Girls) and in The Odd Couple with Walter Matthau. His love of comedy led him to develop an act as a stand-up comic which eventually landed him on The Tonight Show. Dooley has appeared in over five hundred TV commercials, and nearly a thousand radio spots.
